Subject of the scientific research are string instruments built between the 17th and 19th century.
With my research work in archives I reflect relevant information on the live and work history of violin-makers. If possible I include listings of instruments and performance habits as well.
Comparing information gained by research in different archives [“Staatsarchiv”, “Stadtarchiv”, “Notenarchiv”] I am trying to exactly reconstruct past reality [please compare my essay on roman violin-makers].
The main emphasis of my work I put on the royal seat Dresden, which is as well object of my doctoral thesis at the TU Dresden. Main points are the memorandum by Heinrich Schütz concerning the Amati-Violas, the families Jauch & Fritsche, the bow-maker L. Bausch [“the german Tourte”], the huge workshops of Weichold and Koch, the Taxe by Fuchs [1907] und the relation to Markneukirchen [Family Hammig].
I am glad to answer any questions concerning this topic.
